Obama School Speach

In Uncategorized on September 19, 2009 at 10:21 pm

Should the President use school children to support his Obama Care system?

Lets face it the debate is raging on and none of us have heard the speech. So at this point the President has the absolute right and power to address school children. Actually he should have the power and right to address children in school or out of school at any time.

That is his first amendment right. As President it his not only in his power but his duty to address the citizens. That said, he must not indoctrinate. He must open discussion. If he is encouraging students to study his life he must be prepared for an OPEN discussion.

That means for every book read in support there will have to be book read in opposition to his policies. When I think of the noise the Democrats put out in putting down President Bush it’s surprising he would want to go down this road.

President Obama was elected and sworn in (twice) as president. An open discussion should be welcomed by all students and teachers about our president. A warning to teachers. Having an open discussion does not mean forcing an agreement with the White House’s policies. It means laying out the good and bad in a calm and peaceful style.

Lets remind out children that many people died to allow this single freedom. Perhaps this is where we should start. In this great country we offer an opportunity to disagree. Disagreeing without fear of retribution. To have our voices heard. All the voices. It does not require agreement or a vote of confidence.

“Behind the ostensible government sits enthroned an invisible government owing no allegiance and acknowledging no responsibility to the people”.

Teddy Roosevelt
